Kamara exit timeline at Leeds United after Rennes transfer update
Glen Kamara impressed in his first season at Leeds United
Glen Kamara’s Leeds United exit and summer transfer to Rennes may be wrapped up in just a few hours, according to Graham Smyth.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Tuesday (16 July) that the Finnish midfielder has travelled to France to complete a medical with his new side and put the finishing touches on the transfer.
All parties involved in the deal were eager to find a solution for the former Rangers man this summer and there is now an anticipation around Elland Road that the move could be finalised by Tuesday evening.
Have Leeds United sold Glen Kamara to Rennes amid transfer speculation?
While this entire transfer saga has come as a bit of a shock given the lack of initial speculation around Kamara’s future, it looks as though his time at Leeds United may finish just as quickly as it originally started.
The Finnish international never managed to set the world alight in his time at Elland Road, but he was a consistent presence in the middle of the park that helped get the best out of the talented players ahead of him.
His hard work alongside the likes of Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu at the base of midfield allowed players like Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto to flourish at the top end of the pitch and almost fire the Whites to the Premier League.
Ultimately, it feels as though this has been a good bit of business for Daniel Farke’s side. Earning a multi-million-pound profit on a player who only spent one year in Yorkshire is excellent, even if they will be disappointed to have not kept him for longer.
Hopefully, that money will be reinvested back into the side sooner rather than later as the German is now crying out for further midfield reinforcements after the signing of Joe Rothwell.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are understood to have made a £3million transfer offer for Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle
