Kathryn Thomas shares stunning transformation on ‘happy place’ Wexford home

RTE star Kathryn Thomas has showed off the incredible transformation she made on her Wexford home.

The popular presenter’s grandfather built the house in North Wexford over 70 years ago and her extended family have been “creating amazing memories” there ever since.

Two years ago, Kathryn’s family of over 50 people reunited in the house to celebrate what would have been her grandfather’s 100th birthday.

The Carlow native decided to revamp the space and made sure that everybody from dogs to babies to grannies felt “comfortable and welcome” there.

Kathryn shared a video on Instagram of the beautiful house, situated beside the sea, and said: “This is ‘my happy place’ more than anywhere in the world.

“My cousins and I have all had so many happy childhood memories in this house thanks to my Gran & Papa and now we get to create new ones with our own children.

“We will be forever grateful to them for leaving such a beautiful legacy.”

Kathryn partnered with Dulux Heritage Ireland to “give back some love to the house that has given her family so much love over the years”.”

The former Operation Transformation host painted the colour Green Earth on the walls, Waxed Khaki on the chimney breast and Panel White on all the architraves.

She explained: “We wanted to create a cohesive, laid back neutral look, bringing the outside in using colours that would compliment the beautiful sea views.”

The mum-of-two also added some new furniture and decorations in the rooms.

Kathryn was quite pleased with the end result as she said: “I think it looks amazing and I’m hoping the rest of the family do too!”

The radio star’s friends and fans all looked the transformation as they raced to the comment section with compliments.

Aileen wrote: “Fab. Your kids will have special memories too of all their cousins in ‘Wexico’ where it never rains!!!!”
