KCLR marking International Pride Month with a dedicated online radio station, KCLR Pride
KCLR is marking International Pride Month in June with a dedicated online radio station, KCLR Pride.
The station, which can be found online at kclrpride.com, aims to encourage inclusion and tolerance across Carlow and Kilkenny by raising awareness of LGBTQI+ issues with a month of specially commissioned programmes.
A large team of broadcasters and contributors has been working on researching and preparing a series of programmes featuring people of all ages, communities and backgrounds. The programmes will include 20 coming out stories with I’m Out Out, personal music choices and the stories behind them.
My Big Gay Playlist, people sharing stories about who they are, not who they’re perceived to be, with I’m Just Me and There’s Something We Need to Talk About, a series of no holds-barred debates from the LGBTQI+ community.
The shows will be heard on KCLR, with more comprehensive coverage on KCLR Pride, throughout June.
“We’re delighted to be launching this new station which builds on the success of various Pride initiatives which we have been involved with over the last number of years,” said KCLR CEO John Purcell. “This brings it to a whole new level and we’re really looking forward to it.
“We’re very grateful to Coimisiun na Meán who are providing funding for the project through the Sound and Vision Scheme as well as the wide and diverse group of people who will be bringing the project to life throughout the month of June.@
