Keep an eye on your drinks and other tips on how to have a safe summer holiday

With a record number of deaths reported of Irish citizens abroad, what can we do to steer clear of danger and crime on our travels?

There are risks associated with any kind of foreign travel, and it goes far beyond delayed flights or hotels that don’t quite match what was advertised. There’s a growing awareness that travelling safely should be just as much a priority as travelling widely. But are we taking the right precautions?

In a personal capacity, I am 26 years old, and until now I have only ever taken out travel insurance for long trips. Despite embarking on plenty of quick getaways and city breaks, it has never been a priority to provide a safety net in case of disaster striking.
