Keith Oddo – Men’s Basketball Coach

Keith Oddo joined the IUPUI staff in August 2023 as an assistant coach. After a coaching change following the 2023-24 campaign, Oddo was retained by head coach Paul Corsaro as Special Assistant to the Head Coach.

Prior to IUPUI, he spent two seasons at Bridgewater College (Va.) and was promoted to Lead Assistant Coach in Spring 2022.

By winning eight games by five points or fewer, the 2022-23 team had its highest Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) finish and received a conference tournament bye for the first time since 2009. Oddo, who was in charge of all aspects of the defense, saw the Eagles make major strides in his second year on the job. In 2022-2023, the Eagles gave up 70.6 PPG, compared to 76.0 PPG in 2021-2022. In addition, opponents were held to 41.7 percent from the field in 2022-2023, compared to 47 percent the previous season. Bridgewater also forced 14.3 turnovers per game.

Oddo, who specializes in player development, was instrumental in the development of point guard Shod Smith, who was named to the All ODAC 2nd Team in 2022-2023  after ranking second in the league in assists and steals. In 2021-22, Smith was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year, D3hoops.com Region VI Rookie of the Year, VaSID All-State Rookie of the Year and All ODAC 3rd Team. Alec Topper was also named to the All-ODAC 3rd Team in both 2021-2022 and 2022-23, resulting in the first time two players earned back-to-back All-Conference honors in program history.

In addition to his on the court duties, Oddo spearheaded recruitment, resulting in multiple commitments. He also executed team operations, travel, academics, video, and social media. 

Prior to his time at Bridgewater, Oddo was most recently a graduate assistant coach at the University of Akron. While with the Zips, Oddo was responsible for player development, scouting, analytics, team operations, and academic development. Akron finished 15-8 overall and 12-6 in the MAC.

During the summer of 2021, he worked as an NBA Summer League Team Assistant with the Brooklyn Nets. He assisted with on-court practice and drills while supporting coaches and staff with daily operational tasks. 

He facilitated the creation and growth of Louisville’s TBT entry, “The Ville”, teaming with former UofL assistant Mark Lieberman and former player Luke Hancock to launch the 2023 team. The team was highlighted by former UofL standouts Peyton Siva and Russ Smith and went 2-1 in the 2023 event.

He ended his playing career suiting up for the University of Louisville during the 2019-2020 season. While at Louisville, the Cardinals finished with a 24-7 overall record and ranked as high as No. 1 in the country.

Prior to Louisville, Oddo was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team at the University of Richmond where he received a full athletic scholarship, after beginning his career as a walk-on. 

A Roanoke, Va.-native, Oddo earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in communication and history from Richmond and a master’s degree in sport science and coaching from Akron.
