Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid ride the runway on horses
Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid marked their own runway firsts as they rode into the Vogue World Paris show on horses on Sunday evening.
This year’s Vogue World collaborated with youth athletic academies across France, pairing different sports with a history of 100 years of French fashion.
And in keeping with the sports theme the two models rode across the Place Vendôme in matching taupe blazers with shiny black collars.
Meanwhile their horses, Django and Napo, were dressed mane to hoof in Hermes as they sported orange and leg warmers and saddles.
Sabrina Carpenter looked right at home on the runway as she wowed in a red and white stripey Jacquemus ensemble and matching headscarf.
The Espresso hitmaker, 25, is used to commanding a stage, but the star proved she can also work a square as she strutted across the Place Vendôme.
Sabrina put on a busty display in the bold ensemble which she paired with some shiny red heels and a matching bold red lip.
Katy Perry, 39, made a surprise appearance at the show as she left little to the imagination and went naked beneath a black geometric archival Luar in a section of the show dedicated to the style and silhouettes of the 1980s.
The singer’s skirt was adorned with faded roses and she completed the look with some lace up black heels.
After their horse debut, Kendall and Gigi returned later for their second look.
Kendall stole the show in a nude corset dress as she put on a leggy display in the elegant semi-sheer petticoat underskirt.
She displayed her slim frame and snatched waist in the figure-hugging garment and teamed her catwalk look with chic white gloves and a swipe of red lipstick.
Gigi’s final outfit of the night was a custom Balmain and channelled vintage Wonder Woman with an incredible gold-plated corset and blue thigh-slit skirt.
She showcased her toned legs in the perilously high slit skirt, while boosting her already statuesque frame with a pair of red heels.
Gigi wore her cropped blonde locks slicked back off her face and opted for a full face of glamorous make-up including a striking red lip.
Meanwhile Serena and Venus Williams wore sport-inspired dresses as they wowed on the runway.
Serena, 42, donned a blue, black and white Off White dress.
The top half of the outfit resembled a long-sleeved sports top with a quarter zip before it flowed into a floaty midi dress.
Venus wore a custom Marine Serre look crafted from repurposed tennis bag which featured a high leg slit.
Speaking about the look Venus told Vogue: ‘Marine absolutely killed the look.
‘She really embodied femininity, athleticism, and chicness all in one. And most importantly, it makes me feel empowered and confident.’
FKA Twigs ensured all eyes were on her as she took to the runway in a Chanel strapless black ruffled dress which she styled with sheer tights and towering platform heels.
The singer also debuted a dramatic two-tone hair style, after dying her buzzcut peroxide blonde, while also sporting her long black dreadlocks.
Kate Upton wowed as she showed off her toned physique in a cropped checked blue shirt and low waisted black ruffled skirt with orange waistband.
Styled by the designer Miu Miu the actress, 32, styled her blonde locks in a 40s hairstyle and bold red lip.
A cohort of famous faces took part in the sold-out Vogue World event, celebrating 100 years of fashion and sport in the iconic city.
The fashion show also featured performances by Bad Bunny and Aya Nakumura, while Cara Delevingne provided commentary on the live stream.
The rapper performed three of his biggest hits, Monaco, Vou 787 and Titi Me Preguntó during the 1990s tribute to football.
He styled a grey pinstriped, double-breasted suit from Pressiat, with statement padded shoulders.
Adding a pop of colour he added some bright red cowboy boots and stylish shades while three diamond-encrusted chains from Tiffany & Co. decorated his neck.
Aya Nakamura looked stunning in a chocolate brown corset dress with a high leg slit and gold platform heels.
Meanwhile Cara Delevingne provided commentary on the live stream for those who were unable to get tickets as she talked the viewers through each era of fashion.
Cara turned heads in a monochrome striped trouser suit as she went brasless under the plunging fitted blazer which boasted dramatic shoulder pads and three-quarter length sleeves.
She rocked a pair of coordinated black and white wide legged trousers with the jacket and added inches to her frame in a pair of boots.
Styled her long tresses in a neat loose do, the actress accessorised with a large quirky dazzling gold bracelet after wowing in a Madonna inspired cone bra piece for the red carpet.
The venue for the show was the famed Place Vendôme – a square which is a renowned location for fine jewellery and the inspiration for a Catherine Deneuve film.
The sports included cycling, gymnastics, tennis, fencing, and break dancing, among others and the fashion will shine a spotlight on both modern and historic designers.
Last year the event was hosted in London, while the year before the Big Apple was the backdrop for the high fashion extravaganza.
Speaking on the event, Vogue’s global editorial director and Condé Nast chief content officer Anna Wintour, said: ‘If Vogue World: New York was a street fair, and Vogue World: London was a glamorous night at the theatre…
‘Supporting arts and cultural organisations in London – Paris will be a kind of opening ceremony; one that celebrates 100 years of fashion and sport, as well as this extraordinary city.’
A percentage of the net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the humanitarian organisation Secours Populaire.
The organisation facilitates access to essential equipment for young, aspiring athletes across France.
