Kerry Katona admits heartbreak as daughters moving to Ireland and Liverpool
Kerry Katona isn’t ready to wave her daughter Heidi goodbye as the 17-year-old follows her dreams. Heidi’s departure from the family home follow her sister Lilly’s decision to move to Ireland to live with her grandparents.
The former Atomic Kitten hitmaker, 43, opened up about her heartache in the exclusive OK! Magazine column as Heidi prepares to leave the family home to attend a performing arts school in Liverpool following her GCSEs. Kerry revealed they’d be treating themselves to “a little date night in London” to celebrate but she’s made it clear she “can’t cope.”
“Heidi and I are going to have a little date night in London this week as I’m doing some work there and I’m taking her along. We have such a laugh together – she’s my golden child”, Kerry penned. “She’s moving to Liverpool to go to a performing arts school in the summer once she finishes her GCSEs and I’m really going to miss her. I can’t cope!”

The doting mum-of-five then shared her special bond with Heidi, writing: “she hates to admit it, but Heidi is definitely a mummy’s girl, so she’ll miss me too.” She then added, in reference to two of her children: “soon I’m only going to have Max and DJ at home, who will still be at each other’s throats.”
News of Heidi’s departure from the family home follow her sister Lilly’s own decision to fly out of the nest. Kerry shared the family update in her column on Monday, May 20, as her 21-year-old daughter, whom she shares with former husband Brian McFadden, was planning to move to Ireland.
“Lilly is looking for a fresh start so has decided she’s going to move over to Ireland to live with her grandparents on her dad’s side. I think it’s a good thing because she’s 21 so it’ll be nice for her to stand on her own two feet, she rules the roost at our house”, Kerry wrote at the time.
She had then penned, in reference to Heidi: “Heidi has been doing her GCSEs at the moment and I’m so proud of her. She’s going to drama school once she’s finished and honestly is so talented. It makes me emotional that DJ is going to be the only one left in school.”
Kerry was also considering leaving the home, uprooting her life to Marbella, but she recently announced she was putting the dream on hold after a sun-kissed getaway with fiancé Ryan Mahoney.
“It’s no secret that Ryan and I have been thinking of uprooting to Marbella for a while, but now we’re undecided”, she wrote in her column back in April, 2024. “We have read that there’s been a couple of shootings in that area and we’re just not sure if it’s the best place for our family to move to.”
She had then explained the pair would be staying put in the UK as they look for a smaller house: “now, the plan is to stay in England and we’ve been viewing houses already – but we’d definitely like to downsize, as Heidi will be going to college soon, so it’ll just be Max, DJ, Ryan, and I. A new home is on the horizon – but we won’t need as many rooms!”
