Kids go free to live American Football game and family fun day this Bank Holiday
Cork’s American Football team are putting on a fantastic day out for the whole family this weekend, with a live game, bouncy castles, food trucks, face painting and cheerleading shows – and smallies go free!
The Cork Admirals will clash against the Belfast Knights at MTU this Sunday, as the Stadium is transformed into a playground for all ages. The American Football Fun Day attracts hundreds of spectators every year, and the Admirals expect big crowds to come out to enjoy this year’s day out while the sun shines.
The main event will be the chance to catch a live game. Both the Cork Admirals and the Belfast Knights are two of the country’s leading American Football clubs, giving viewers a glimpse into the action of one of Ireland’s fastest-growing sports.
Always a great day for the whole family, this year’s event will be bigger than ever with attractions including three big bouncy castles, a DJ, face painters, local food trucks with lots of treats, a cheerleading show and touchdown contests to get your hands on the ball and have a go yourself.
It should be a grand day weatherwise too, bringing even more out to enjoy the festivities. The latest forecast from Met Eireann suggests we could even be looking at beach and BBQ-worthy weather conditions from Friday, with long spells of sunshine and temps climbing into the low twenties over the weekend.
The very good news for the weekend from the forecasters is: “High pressure firmly in charge with settled and mainly dry weather throughout.”
Entry is €10 for adults, €5 for students and free for kids under 12 – tickets are available on Eventbrite now here.
The Cork Admirals are one of Ireland’s leading American Football clubs, and as a member of American Football Ireland (AFI) they play in the top tier AFI Premier Division. The senior team were national champions in 2018 and has competed in the post-season playoffs every year since 2017. Many Cork players and coaches have gone on to represent the Irish National American Football team.
