A suspected firearm has been seized from a hotel in Co Kildare.
Gardaí discovered the suspected firearm in a hotel housing asylum seekers in Newbridge, Co Kildare on the afternoon of Friday June 21.
The item was seized by Gardaí and has been sent for a ballistic examination.
The Irish Independent understands that the gun was found in a vent in one of the bedrooms in the hotel.
A spokesperson from An Garda Síochána confirmed: “Gardaí were alerted following a discovery of a suspected firearm at a property in Newbridge, Co Kildare on the afternoon of Friday, June 21, 2024.
“The item was seized and is now subject to ballistic examination,” concluded the spokesperson.
