Kilkenny’s John Donnelly likely to miss Leinster final against Dublin due to injury

John Donnelly of Kilkenny may miss the Leinster final

Kilkenny could be without John Donnelly for next week’s Leinster SHC final after the Thomastown attacker sustained a hand injury in their round-robin victory against Wexford last weekend.

Donnelly has been in scintillating form this season – highlighted by his 0-7 haul in a man-of-the-match display against Dublin – but he is understood to have suffered a broken thumb in their Model victory.

Donnelly, who was also man-of-the-match in their earlier Leinster draw with Galway, has already clocked 0-15 from play in five championship games this season but he could be sidelined for up to six weeks with injury.

That would be a big setback for Kilkenny boss Derek Lyng ahead of their provincial final date with Dublin on Saturday week, as well as for the remainder of the season.

In better news for the Cats, All-Star forward Adrian Mullen did make the match-day panel for the Wexford clash after overcoming injury and the Ballyhale Shamrocks ace should feature prominently against the Dubs.
