Kwibuka cricket: Female Yellow Greens fall against Kenya
Nigeria suffered their second defeat at the ongoing 2024 Kwibuka Cricket tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, falling by 23 runs against Kenya in their third game of the tournament on Sunday, The PUNCH reports.
The Female Yellow Greens won the toss and elected to field first but their bowling prowess was met by a resilient Queentor Abel batting who went on to win the Player of The Match award with 60 runs from 48 balls.
Nigeria’s bowling was not impressive in the first innings, with their manageable figures of one wicket each coming from Usen Peace and Piety Lucky, allowing the Kenyans to storm 115 runs for the loss of six wickets.
In the second innings, the wickets also started falling as soon as the batting began with opening batters Esther Sandy and captain Favour Eseigbe dismissed with just three runs on the board between them. The best batting figure of Leke Oyede’s ladies was Lillian Udeh’s 28 runs off 18 balls.
Nigeria’s unimpressive innings saw them finish with 92 runs all out in 15.1 overs.
Having won just one out of three games, Nigeria are fifth in the eight-nation tournament with just two points.
Hosts Rwanda and Uganda are joint-top with six points each having won all their three games so far.
