Lancaster shopping centre continues ‘Meet Up Mondays’ after successful launch
Marketgate Shopping Centre in Lancaster has confirmed the continuation of its successful ‘Meet Up Mondays’ sessions.
These free, drop-in sessions are open to individuals of all ages, including young adults, children, new parents, and more, and are designed to foster new friendships and provide valuable community resources.
They have been running for the past six months.
Representatives from the Children and Family Wellbeing Service at Lancashire County Council will be attending the next session on Monday (June 3).
Marketgate Shopping Centre has hosted these sessions to help tackle loneliness and isolation within the Lancaster community. The initiative has already had a significant positive impact, easing feelings of isolation for numerous attendees. Staff at the centre volunteer their time each week for the sessions and love to meet new faces for a chat and a cuppa at the free drop-in sessions.
Centre Manager, Sarah Harrison, said: “We’re proud to be giving back to the community with our free-to-attend Meet Up Mondays sessions. We don’t want people in the local community to feel isolated, and Meet Up Mondays is a great way to meet new people.”
