Leandro Trossard father slams manager after criticism aimed at Arsenal star
The father of Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard has slammed Domenico Tedesco for his management of the Belgium national team at Euro 2024.
Trossard started the Red Devils’ Group E opener against Slovakia last Monday but was dropped to the bench for the following game against Romania after Belgium’s campaign had started with defeat.
Tedesco was appointed as Belgium’s manager last February following Roberto Martinez’s resignation after the country’s disappointing group stage exit at the 2022 World Cup.
However, Trossard senior has been left unimpressed with Tedesco’s management at this summer’s finals and cited his poor tactics as the reason the Arsenal forward struggled to make an impact in Belgium’s opening game.
“Leandro is criticised, but he was moved from one position to another, it’s difficult to keep a guideline in your game in these conditions,” said Trossard’s father, Pierre, in an interview with De Morgen. “I don’t think Tedesco is a good coach for Belgium, even if he doesn’t have the stubbornness of Roberto Martinez.”

Belgium are currently second in a tightly contested Group E and play Ukraine on Wednesday, with all four teams still in contention to qualify for the knockout rounds.
