But in the last few years there have been many tournaments that make us ask an important question. Have they truly left behind?

Indian Champs, a team composed of former big players of Indian cricket team has reached the finals of World Championship of Legends and would face traditionally fierce rival Pakistan on Saturday. But where do we put these tournaments in the cricketing world? Do they have any positive impact on promotion of the game or is it just a model to make revenue out of fans’ nostalgia?
These tournaments surely deliver as a source of entertainment and that is why they are able to sell television rights as well as streaming rights very easily. Now there are as many such tournaments for ‘legends’ as ICC tournaments every year.

It works on a very basic formula that fans want to see their favorites who retired in action and they deliver it. Reduced boundary sizes help in deceiving the intensity of the matches and create an illusion of a higher game level.

When legends retire, it makes a dent in history and people want to remember the moments forever. It can be debated if playing in sub standard tournaments like these take a hit on their reputation.
