Leica launches LUX camera app for iOS, may also unveil branded grip case for iPhone 15, 16 series
Leica, a German-based company known for its cameras and lenses, has officially launched the Leica LUX camera app for iPhones. The company has also shared its intent to launch a Leica-branded camera grip case for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series in the coming days.
Smartphone brands like Huawei and Xiaomi have enjoyed exclusive Leica branding on their flagship smartphones, and with this development, iPhone users will be able to enjoy these benefits on a smartphone that they might already own, at no extra cost.
According to the company, Leica LUX is a professional iOS camera app that offers free access with additional features available via a subscription. For a monthly fee of Rs 575 or an annual fee of Rs 6,900, users can unlock premium features including Leica looks, lenses, manual focus, exposure control, and Bayer RAW capture.
The LUX app was designed and co-developed by Leica and Fjorden, and was acquired by Leica back in December 2023. The company has also confirmed that Fjorden will continue to make cases for iPhones, including the upcoming iPhone 16 model, and will also launch a new Leica LUX-branded case, designed by Fjorden.
Some of the highlights of the Leica LUX camera app for iOS include authentic Leica colour science, aperture mode with Leica Lens simulations, and the company has confirmed that Fjorden Grip, for now, is not fully compatible with the app, but it does allow users to capture pictures using the shutter button.
