Lidl entices Laois TikTokers to LGFA Games with shopping discounts as reward
Lidl Ireland is calling on Laois TikTokers to support the Laois Ladies team by attending the upcoming relegation qualifier clash with Tipperary. This initiative is part of Lidl’s groundbreaking #LidlShootToSave campaign, which aims to increase attendance at LGFA games while rewarding fans with significant shopping discounts.
Fans who attend the TG4 All Ireland Championship knock-out games and post video clips of the on-field action on TikTok, tagging @LidlIreland and using the hashtag #LidlShootToSave, can earn up to €20 in discounts on their next Lidl shop. This unique social media campaign leverages the popularity of TikTok to boost visibility and support for women’s sports.
Posts with verified match footage will qualify for discounts based on the number of likes received within 24 hours; €5 discount for content with over 25 likes, €10 discount for content with over 50 likes, €15 discount for content with over 75 likes and a €20 discount for content with over 100 likes.
Eimear O’Sullivan, Corporate Affairs Director at Lidl Ireland & Northern Ireland, highlighted the campaign’s goal: “We are proud to lead the charge in raising the profile of female sports and rewarding our customers. The #LidlShootToSave campaign is designed to encourage attendance and celebrate the achievements of our Ladies Gaelic footballers.”
Recent research by Lidl found that while 59% of Irish people have never attended a live women’s sporting event, there is a strong interest in doing so. The campaign seeks to tap into this potential, particularly among the 3 million Irish TikTok users, many of whom are young and female.
For Laois, this campaign represents a fantastic opportunity to show support for local female athletes while benefiting from Lidl’s generous discounts. The initiative not only encourages attendance at games but also fosters a sense of community pride and involvement.
Lidl Ireland’s ‘Get Behind the Fight’ campaign has been backed by a number of sporting heroes and social influencers, including famed Gaelic football analyst and former Derry player Joe Brolly and personal trainer and influencer Louise Cody.
Mícheál Naughton, LGFA President, expressed his support for the campaign: “It is great to see this innovative initiative from Lidl Ireland which provides a strong incentive to attend Championship fixtures and promote the quality that is on show on the field.”
The TG4 All Ireland Championship games included in the #LidlShootToSave campaign are; Senior All-Ireland Quarterfinals (6/7 July), Semi-Finals (20 July), and Final (4 August, Croke Park), Intermediate All-Ireland Semi-finals (14 July) and Final (4 August, Croke Park) and Junior All-Ireland Semi-finals (14 July) and Final (4 August, Croke Park).
With the current record for attendance at a female sporting event in Ireland at 56,114 supporters for the 2019 TG4 All Ireland Ladies Gaelic Football finals, the #LidlShootToSave campaign aims to smash inequality in sport and fill every seat at every game this Championship season.
TG4 All Ireland Championship tickets represent great value for money for families looking to attend a top quality sporting event. Adult tickets typically cost €20, Student and OAP tickets cost €10, U18s cost €5 and U12s can attend for free when accompanied by an adult
Laois and Tipperary are set to go head-to-head on Saturday, July 6 in a TG4 All-Ireland Senior
