Limerick Gardaí investigating break-in robbery at church gift shop
GARDAÍ in Limerick are investigating after a brazen robbery from a church gift shop in the early hours of Wednesday morning (May 8) last week.
According to Gardaí working out of Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick City, reports were made of an unidentified man smashing the window of The Monastery religious shop run by the Redemptorist Church before entering and raiding the contents of the store’s till.
The Monastery is located on the grounds of the Redemptorist Church at Mount Saint Alphonsus, South Circular Road, and sells a variety of gifts, figures, books, pamphlets, and mass cards.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street Garda Station, said that the man was captured on CCTV exiting the shop at around 3.45am on the morning of May 8, after climbing through the broken window and raiding the contents of the shop’s till.
Sergeant Leetch said the thief “walked out the front door of the shop” and was caught on CCTV.
Gardaí investigating the burglary have appealed to members of the public who may have any information, or any additional video footage of the incident, to come forward. They are appealing especially to any motorists or delivery van drivers who may have dashcam footage from the area surrounding the Redemptorist Church between 3.30am and 4.00am on Wednesday May 8.
