Limerick Ladies Football side bid to secure All-Ireland Championship semi-final spot
LIMERICK’S ladies footballers will play their final round robin game of the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship this Sunday, June 30 against Kilkenny in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale at 2pm.
The Treaty women currently sit second in group B of the junior championship after a fantastic 1-12 to 0-8 victory over Longford in the opening game before their only loss of the championship to Louth, 0-14 to 0-8.
Their opposition this Sunday, Kilkenny, have lost all of their championship games so far against Louth and Longford. If Limerick remain in second place in Group B they will face off against the top seed in Group A of the championship which could be either Carlow, Fermanagh or Derry.
The Derry and Fermanagh fixture this coming Wednesday, June 26 will help determine the standings in Group A and give the Limerick side a more structured look at who they could be facing in the knock-out stages of the Junior Championship. Limerick will be well equipped to face Carlow if the opportunity arises after meeting them twice already this year.
The Dolmen County emerged victorious against the Limerick side in this year’s Division Four Lidl National League final back in April when a late goal was enough to see Carlow edge the win. Limerick beat the same side in the round robin fixture in the league.
