Live at the Marquee: Flares and neon on show as Cork struck with a case of Biggest Disco fever

It was the largest disco to grace Cork City this summer as folks clad in denim shorts, flares, and neon pants rocked up to the big top for the Biggest 90s Disco and a boogie for four hours nonstop.

While the sun did not come out to shine at Live at The Marquee, the hopping colours of neon surely made it brighter and sparkly.

Crowds of women wearing wacky bucket hats waited in queue for a pint to quench their thirst as the Kascada tribute band played some familiar tunes.

Dancing was not limited to the pit inside the tent as boogies were had outside while people waited for food and friends.

The four hour ong marathon started at 6pm and saw a range of artists take to the stage, with the likes of Peter Andre, Basshunter, Mark McCabe and East 17.

Confetti, glitter, glow in the dark bands and kitty cat ears erupted through the crowd as concert goers jumped up and down and swayed side to side to some of the best tunes  the 90s had to offer.

Lights from phones went on when East 17 played their Christmas classic (in June yes) ‘Stay Another Day’ after the lead singer said he did not get to spend last Christmas in Cork.

“My wife is Irish, and we spend every Christmas here,” he told the Marquee which got screams and a massive round of applause.

It was nonstop raving as the headline artists came out one after the other, giving the crowd no break from the music.

Technotronic came onto stage shortly after Peter Andre, turning the crowd into a rave that lost the plot as the bass dropped.

Phats & Small took to the stage, opening with the hit classic ‘September’ by Earth, Wind and Fire which saw the crowd lose their mind.

Saturday’s gig was the penultimate gig at Live At The Marquee with events at the big top set to close on Tuesday with British indie folk singer Tom Odell.
