LIVE updates from All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-final draw

The draw for the quarter-final of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship takes place this morning.

The teams will learn their fate at around 8.30am on Morning Ireland and we will have live updates in our blog below as the four ties are revealed.

As always their are a number of permutations due to the fact that sides who were in the same group can not face each other until the semi-final. That means that the possible draws for all eight teams are as follows:

Possible draw

Armagh v Louth \ Roscommon

Donegal v Galway \ Derry \ Louth \ Roscommon

Dublin v Derry \ Galway

Kerry v Derry \ Galway \ Roscommon

As we can see from the above scenarios, Dublin are guaranteed a tough draw as they will take on either Galway or a Derry side who beat Mayo on penalties at Dr Hyde Park on Saturday.

Armagh can only play Louth or Roscommon, while Louth can only play Donegal or Armagh. Donegal, Kerry and Roscommon have a wide range of teams that they can be drawn against.

Updates to follow below.

Ger Brennan full of praise for Sam Mulroy as Louth reach first ever quarter-final

“He’s (Mulroy) just a super captain, a super talent,” said Brennan. “The work he puts in.

“That takes an awful lot of balls to be able to do that, not to mention the god given skill.

“But you just have to look what happened next. He’s dispossessing Cork, having kicked over what turned out to be the winning score. That’s leadership, pure desire, will to win and wanting to lead his teammates.”

After a dramatic weekend of preliminary qualifiers, we now have our final eight sides – one of which will lift the Sam Maguire Cup in less than a month’s time.

A number of huge sides were dumped out this weekend, with all of Cork, Tyrone, Mayo and Monaghan dumped out of the competition.

The remaining teams are Dublin, Kerry, Galway, Donegal, Armagh, Louth, Roscommon and Derry.

The draw takes place in an hour’s time.
