Liverpool transfer news as $64m winger targeted and Madrid deal Slot huge blow
The attention of the footballing world is currently on Euro 2024 but while all eyes are on Germany, Arne Slot and his recruitment team will be working tirelessly at Anfield to reinforce the first-team squad.
The Reds reinvented the midfield last summer and will now look to add recruits to the defense, which was impacted heavily throughout the 2023/24 season. The likes of Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahim Konate all missed extended periods, along with Joel Matip who has now parted ways with the club.
As well as defenders, possible additions in the forward areas and an additional body in the defensive midfield role could also arrive before the end of the window.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including a big money move for an in-form winger and an update on a long-term defensive target.
Ademola Lookman (Atalanta)
Liverpool is one of many clubs interested in signing Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman this summer, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The former Fulham and Everton ace impressed throughout the 2023/24 campaign and is now being linked with a return to the Premier League with Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.
With 27 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions last season, including a heroic hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, Lookman won’t be short of offers in the coming months. However, if Atalanta does part ways with the player, the Serie A club will demand a figure in the region of $64million (€60m/£50m) which could prove to be a stumbling block for possible suitors.
The new Liverpool home shirt for the 2024/2025 season features a chrome yellow pattern design and is a modern take on the legendary ’84 home shirt – a season which saw the Reds become European Champions for the fourth time in Rome and the first English Club to win a treble of major honours. Liverpool.com says: The futures of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah are yet to be determined at Anfield. If Lookman did arrive, it could hint at the end of one of these players’ future in red.
Leny Yoro (Lille)
Liverpool has tabled a proposal to sign LOSC Lille defender Leny Yero, according to AS. The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid but Liverpool is now pushing for the signing.
The player has also received offers from both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain as top clubs battle to sign one of the most exciting defensive prospects in world football. However, all interested parties have reportedly been made aware that Yoro only wants to join Los Blancos this summer.
Liverpool is in the market for a central defender this summer following the departure of long-term servant Joel Matip. In the absence of Yoro, the likes of Goncalo Inacio, Levi Colwill and Piero Hincapie have also been touted as possible options.
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool has already been beaten to the signing of Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid and it now looks as if the Reds will also miss out on Yoro. Richard Hughes, Arne Slot and Michael Edwards will now need to analyse other defensive targets this summer.
