Liverpool transfer news as ‘monster’ offer prepared and defender set to leave
Liverpool is likely to make one or two additions once the transfer window opens on June 14. That will be watched with major interest as Arne Slot begins his reign at the club.
But just as fascinating is the outgoing side of things, where Liverpool has a number of questions to answer. Crucially, the Reds will want to resolve the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah in swift fashion.
And aside from that trio of expiring contracts, there are other issues in play as well. Saudi interest in Salah is well-known, but it seems clubs from the region could also make a push for Alisson.

Meanwhile, certain matters have already been resolved, with one player set for release after nearly two decades with the club. Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Alisson (Saudi clubs)
Sides in Saudi Arabia are cooking up a ‘monster offer’ to present to Alisson, according to TeamTalk. He is ‘the chosen one’ as the Pro League looks to attract a top-level goalkeeper.
For his part, Alisson is thought to want to stay in Europe, where Liverpool has returned to the Champions League for the new season. He would not want to jeopardize his place in the Brazil team, with Ederson never far away from a start.
But he is supposedly ‘yet to fully reject’ a Saudi switch amid the promise of a huge incoming proposal. While a transfer is expected to be ‘very difficult’, it is not considered impossible.
The new Liverpool home shirt for the 2024/2025 season features a chrome yellow pattern design and is a modern take on the legendary ’84 home shirt – a season which saw the Reds become European Champions for the fourth time in Rome and the first English Club to win a treble of major honours. Liverpool.com says: Losing Alisson would be the worst possible start to the Slot era. Of all Liverpool’s ‘aging’ stars, he is probably the least expendable, given that he remains at the peak of his powers and can be expected to stay there for years to come.
A move would admittedly work out nicely for Caoimhin Kelleher, who is otherwise expected to leave Liverpool, in what would also be a blow. But picking between the two, the Brazilian has to stay, and the Reds must do their best to convince him to ignore any Saudi overtures.
It sounds as though it would not have its work cut out in that regard, with Alisson leaning towards staying put. The Pro League will surely find that it has a similar issue with lots of the biggest names, after various players struggled to adapt after making the move last summer.
Adam Lewis (Newport County)
Having joined at under-6 level, Adam Lewis is finally set to officially leave Liverpool. This is Anfield reports that the 24-year-old will be released upon the expiry of his contract.
Lewis has been out on loan at Newport County for the past two years. The Welsh side is looking to make that deal permanent when he becomes a free agent.
“I would like to keep him here. I’d like to sit down with him and have conversations around his future,” said manager Graham Coughlan, speaking to the the South Wales Argus.
Lewis did make an appearance for Liverpool, featuring under Jurgen Klopp in an FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town in 2020. He has subsequently been loaned to Amiens, Plymouth Argyle, Livingston and eventually Newport.
Liverpool.com says: It’s no surprise to see Liverpool let Lewis go. He’ll always have that appearance under Klopp, but at 24, never looked likely to add to it. Hopefully he’s been equipped with all the tools to make a solid career at a slightly lower level.
