Local Notes: Comedy theatre, local lotto and senior alert schemes – Your Community – Waterford News & Star
There was no winner for this week’s lotto so it rolls over until next week with a jackpot of €2,100. The lucky numbers pulled were 5, 11, 19 and 24. Mickey Kiely was the winner of match three numbers. Congratulations.
The Community Text Alert Service is still ongoing and open to any member of the public to join. Some messages that the group send out include notifications from the Gardaí, Met Eireann and others which help to keep the community informed. If you would like to join the text service, please contact Kill Action Group on 086 3772945.
Kill Action Group is a registered provider for the Senior Alert Scheme which provides a personal monitored alarm for those aged 65 and over, living alone or with another person who meets the eligibility criteria and residing within the area.
The equipment is free however there is a fee for monitoring the alarm. Either a landline, mobile phone or broadband connection is required to install and connect the alarm. To enquire about the scheme and how to avail of it please contact Marie Whelan on 087 2871307.
Last week, Glen Flynn entertained a fantastic crowd at Wednesday night dancing. This week Declan Aungier will perform, on Wednesday, June 26, so mark the date in your diary with dancing from 9pm to 11.30pm. There will be complementary tea, coffee and sweet treat, so come and join in the fun.
Last week, Checkers entertained a lively crowd at the centre. Everyone enjoyed the great atmosphere and the next to take to the stage will be Thomas Maguire and Fiona Ennis, on June 30. Social dancing begins at 3pm and finishes at 6pm.
Up next in the Gealach Gorm Theatre will be ‘The Parish’, a popular comedy by Hubcap Theatre, which will be performed on Saturday, July 13, at 8pm.
In this hilarious comedy, a scandal shocks the parish. But ultimately, the power of friendship and community prevails. ‘The Parish’ is a hilarious light comedy where two actors bring to life a range of characters found in every rural community. Performed with minimal set and supported by a rich soundscape, the performance will be part of the Comeragh Wilds Festival.
