Lowry lands huge payout as Scheffler wins sixth title of season at the Travelers

SHANE Lowry failed to fire during his final round at the Travelers Championship but he still landed a massive payday in Cromwell, Connetticut.

The 2019 Open winner carded a frustrating final round of 67 on a low-scoring track.

In reality, the round could have been so much better as his challenge faded away on the 7th.

The Clara ace started hot with two birdies in his first two holes before disaster struck.

Having started the day on -14, the Offaly star made a mess of the seventh in which he missed a 4ft putt for bogey.

A birdie on 9 saw him make the turn on one under before another birdie on 10.

He followed that up with a bogey on 12 prior to birdies on 14 and 17 as he parred out for a three under round at TPC River Highlands.

Lowry finished 6 behind the leaders in tied-9th position on the leaderboard.

He earns a whopping $580,000 from the $20m purse, plus vital FedEx Cup and world ranking points for his efforts.

Seamus Power carded the second best round of the day as he finished t-20 after seven under round to leave him -13 for the tournament.

But World number one Scottie Scheffler was the winner yet AGAIN as he bagged his SIXTH PGA Tour win in his last ten starts of the current PGA Tour season.

The 28-year-old overcame his close pal Tom Kim in a playoff to take another title to solidify his place as best golfer on the planet.

Texan Scheffler has earned $28,096,857 so far this PGA Tour season after his win at the Travelers Championship.
