LPGA Tour superstar who suffered horror dog bite will finally make golf return
World No. 1 Nelly Korda will be taking part in this week’s LPGA Amundi Evian Championship on the heels of missing time due to a scary dog bite she suffered.
Korda was not in attendance at Centurion Club in Hemel Hempstead, England for the recently held LET Aramco Team Series event. One week prior, the 25-year-old revealed that she’d be forced to pull out of the tournament due to injury.
“I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week’s Ladies European Tour tournament in London,” Korda said in a statement posted to Instagram. “On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully.

“I apologize to the LET, the sponsors, and my fans for my absence. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon.”
This isn’t the first time this year that a star female golfer has been sidelined with a serious dog bite. Back in January, Alison Lee was hospitalized for several days and underwent surgery to address an infection after her boyfriend’s rescue dog bit her hand.
Speaking to reporters at last week’s Aramaco Team Series tournament, Lee looked back on her terrifying injury and divulged that she and Korda had been in talks following her recent run-in with a dog. The latter apparently reached out with questions pertaining to the symptoms she had.

“My dog bite got seriously infected, so I was actually hospitalized for three days,” Lee said. “But yeah, it’s an unfortunate circumstance and definitely scary. She got bitten by a dog that she didn’t know, it was just at a random coffee shop. I am hoping for a speedy recovery for her.”
It was hard to find a more dominant player at the start of the season than Korda, who began the year with six victories on the LPGA tour – one of which was a major championship. After recording five straight wins, she tied Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez for the most consecutive titles earned in the history of the LPGA Tour.
Since her torrid start, however, Korda has cooled off significantly in recent weeks, failing to make the cut in her last three tournaments. At the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship – the most recent event she competed in – the American shot 81 in the second round, marking a career-worst score according to ESPN Stats & Information.
Following the poor performance, Korda downplayed any concerns surrounding her game, asserting that her recent struggles were simply caused by the ebb and flow of a long golf season. “It’s just golf recently for me,” she told reporters.
“No words for how I’m playing right now. I’m just going to go home and try to reset … A lot went my way at the beginning part of the year, and just giving it back.”
Korda will look to get her season back on track at the Evian Championship, an event in which she’s finished ninth and eighth the last two years, respectively.
