M1 motorway closed as firefighters battle lorry fire, with long traffic delays

Commuters are experiencing long delays in Dublin this evening as the M1 northbound remains closed due to a vehicle fire.

Dublin Fire Brigade have been battling the blaze for a number of hours as units attempt to bring a lorry fire under control.

The fire broke out between J4 Donabate and J5 Balbriggan South.

The road is completely closed since around 4pm and it has resulted in severe delays for commuters in the evening rush hour.

“Our Manitou teleporter has been used to good effect to remove the burning waste so it can be extinguished and cooled,” Dublin Fire Brigade said on X.
