And with Tubridy out of the hot seat, the Irish host was quick to assure listeners that another presenter would be stepping in to fill his shoes.

Speaking on air this morning, Ryan announced that podcaster Vogue Williams would be hosting his show from next week.

The Irish model looked happy as ever as Tubridy asked her: “Should we tell people some good news? Our friends in Ireland and the UK will be delighted about some new developments.”

The 51-year-old continued to explain that he would be taking a short break from his radio show from next week and humorously asked Vogue: “So, what are you doing next week?”

The 39-year-old beamed as she answered: “Well, next week you have so kindly asked me to fill your seat!”

The duo immediately started clapping and shouting “yes!” as Vogue joked: “Guys, I’m keeping the seat warm for Ryan.”

Ryan couldn’t help but gush over his fellow Irish star as he told her that she is a “great fit” for the show and added: “You are going to love it here.”

The mum-of-three humbly replied: “They are some big shoes to fill Ryan, but I’m really excited and sure at least I know you’ll be back after a week.”

Tubridy immediately cut across Vogue and explained: “Well there might be somebody else, I’m actually going for two weeks.”

The popular presenter then revealed that for his second week away, Angela Scanlon would be stepping in to fill the role.

Ryan Tubrudy returns to Dublin for radio show

Vogue gave a big smile and remarked: “Aw, lovely”, as Ryan joked “it’s the Hibernian take over.”

This comes after Ryan opened up on his “erratic” year after celebrating his birthday.

The former RTE star has settled into London since moving over last December for his new Virgin Radio UK show.

Ryan bid farewell to Ireland a year ago as he signed off from The Late Late Show after 14 years.

After a tough few months following the RTE payments controversy, the presenter landed his new radio gig with Virgin Radio.

The Dublin native reflected on the past year of his life.

‘Countless positives’

He wrote in his Irish Mail on Sunday column: “I hit 51 on Tuesday and found myself reflecting on an erratic year that was strewn with curveballs and kindness. I learnt an awful lot in an awful way.”

He added: “The Christmas card list was shortened, for sure, but there were countless positives. The London experience has exceeded all my expectations and I’ve made a heap of new friends and colleagues along the way both on Virgin Radio and in Ireland with Q102 and associated stations around the country.”

The broadcaster also revealed that he has had an increase in listeners since he joined the Virgin Radio team.

He said: “I had the pleasure of broadcasting from the studios there last week and it’s always great to work with Scott Williams who is running a tight and happy ship.

“I was particularly pleased to hear that the station has increased its listenership by 26 per cent in the past few months. Here’s to continued climbing and winning!”
