Man charged with murder of his brother in Kerry
A man has been charged with the murder of his brother in Castleisland, Co Kerry.
Fergus O’Connor, 41, appeared at a special sitting of Killarney District Court in Co Kerry on Saturday evening. He is charged with the murder of his brother, 42-year-old Padraig O’Connor, at An Caislean Mor in Castleisland on Friday.
Detective Sergeant Ernie Henderson told the court he arrested O’Connor at Tralee Garda station at 4.45 pm Saturday and he was charged with murder at 5.20 pm. The accused’s defence solicitor Padraig O’Connell said he would be applying for bail for him in the High Court on Thursday.

O’Connor, from Scartaglen, has been remanded in custody to Cork Prison to appear via video link at Tralee District Court on Wednesday. Padraig ‘Paudie’ O’Connor was found dead outside a house in the early hours of Friday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr O’Connor was discovered unresponsive on Friday by a family member who sought help from neighbours at the time. Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly afterwards but despite the best efforts of paramedics, his life could not be saved and he was pronounced dead.
Mr O’Connor and his family are originally from the Scartaglen area, outside Castleisland.
