Man dies following suspected stabbing in north Dublin

Gardaí are investigating the fatal assault of a man in his 30s in the Finglas area of north Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

It’s understood the victim was stabbed.

Two scenes have been sealed off as part of the investigation.

Emergency services attended a house in the Scribblestown area shortly after 1am, where the man was found with serious injuries.

He was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Connolly Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

Gardaí have preserved the scene for a technical examination.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry, and an incident room has been established at Finglas Garda Station. A family liaison officer has been assigned to inform the dead man’s family of developments.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward, particularly those who were in the Scribblestown area between midnight and 1am.

Those with any video footage are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
