Man hospitalised after collision with lorry in Charleville

A man was hospitalised following a collision between his car and a lorry in North Cork last night.

The collision took place on the N20 at Ballyhea shortly after 9pm, with the driver being taken to CUH, where his condition is said to be stable.

Investigations are ongoing into the collision, with witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident asked to come forward.

A Garda spokesperson told The Echo, “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted following a collision involving a car and a lorry on the N20 at Ballyhea, Charleville, shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, 6th July 2024.

“The driver of the car, a male in his 50s, was taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is understood to be stable.

“The driver of the lorry did not require immediate medical treatment,” they said, adding “the road involved in this collision has now re-opened for use. Investigations are ongoing.”
