Man in his 70s in serious condition after collision in Cobh
A cyclist was taken to CUH this morning in a serious condition after a collision in Cobh.
The incident occurred in Ballywilliam, Cobh at around 8.30am, with the cyclist, in his 80s, being found on the side of the road by emergency services.
The road was closed to traffic following the collision, with local diversions in place, but it has since reopened.
A Garda spokesperson told The Echo, “Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic incident that occurred at approximately 8:30am on Saturday 6th July 2024 at Ballywilliam, Cobh, Co. Cork.
“A male pedal cyclist, aged in his 70s, was found on the side of the road and taken to Cork University Hospital in a serious condition.
“The road was closed for a time but has since re-opened. Investigations are ongoing.”
