Man in his 80s dies following quad bike crash in Mayo

A man in his 80s has died following a quad bike crash on Acaill (Achill Island) in Co Mayo today.

The crash occurred on the road to Purteen Harbour off the R319 near An Caol (Keel).

The man in his 80s who was driving the quad bike was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body will be removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.

No other injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
