Man rushed to hospital after car and lorry crash in North Cork
A man was taken to Cork University Hospital last night after his car was in a road traffic collision involving a lorry on the N20 at Ballyhea, Charleville shortly after 9 pm last night.
The driver of the car, aged in his 50s, was said to have “serious injuries” when he was rushed to CUH but Gardaí have said that his condition is now stable.
The lorry driver did not require immediate medical treatment. Gardaí have preserved the area for examination and have put local diversions in place.
Gardaí have opened an investigation into the incident and are encouraging anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have video footage from the area at the time to get in touch with Mallow Garda Station at 022-31450 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted following a collision involving a car and a lorry on the N20 at Ballyhea, Charleville, shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, 6th July 2024.
“The driver of the car, a male in his 50s, was taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is understood to be stable. The driver of the lorry did not require immediate medical treatment.
“The scene is preserved for examination, and local traffic diversions are in place. Investigations are ongoing.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage from the area at the time is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station at 022-31450 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.”
