Man seriously injured after Dublin petrol bomb incident

A man has sustained serious injuries after a petrol bomb incident in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí say they are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire at a house in Drimnagh.

The man is in a stable condition following the incident, which occurred between 3am and 3.45am.

Gardai have appealed to any witnesses, or anyone who was in Dromard Road area of Drimnagh at that time and who may have camera footage, to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station 01 666 6600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

Local councillor Daithí Doolan described the incident as “unacceptable”, adding that a family had been left homeless.

The Sinn Féin councillor said: “Drimnagh has had to endure a number of violent incidents in recent months.

“This latest attack is an attack on the whole community in Drimnagh.”

He said the “community deserves better than this”.

Mr Doolan called for more gardaí in the area, adding that “unfortunately the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has failed to provide adequate gardaí to protect residents in our communities”.

He urged those with information about the incident to contact gardaí.

“It is essential those who organised this attack are arrested and face justice,” he said.

“Those responsible must face the full rigours of the law,” he added.
