Man suffers horror injuries during terrifying machete attack in Dublin

A terrifying machete attack has shocked locals in a north Dublin suburb as gardai investigate the violent incident.

A man was attacked with a large knife in the Poppintree area of Ballymun this afternoon, leaving his “bone visible.”

Staff at a nearby shop beside Balbutcher Lane helped the man who was being savagely assaulted.

A source and eye witness to the incident told the Sunday World: “Yes, there was a lot of blood. The man’s bone was visible.

“It didn’t happen inside the shop. It happened outside and the man ran inside the business.

“The man who got hit went inside. Security staff stopped the attacker from entering and catching the injured man.

“It was very shocking, gardaí arrived quickly,” the source added.

A number of garda squad cars arrived at the scene and the incident is under investigation.

A garda spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing.

“Gardaí received report of an incident of assault that occurred at a premises in the Poppintree area of Ballymun, Dublin City at approximately 3pm today, 2nd of July 2024.

“No further information is available while members continue to attend the scene at this time.”
