Man who died in Dublin motorbike crash named locally as fundraiser launched
A man killed in a motorcycle crash in North Dublin yesterday morning has been named locally as Jonas Ferraz.
The 32-year-old died following a single vehicle single-vehicle incident at Constitution Hill, Dublin 7 at around 2:20am on Thursday morning. He was raced to the Mater Hospital following the crash but was later pronounced dead.
Mr Ferraz was originally from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and had an 11-year-old daughter. He had been living in Ireland since October 2023 having previously lived in London.

Pals described the hard working dad as “a friend always concerned about helping others” and who was dedicated to his family who remained in Brazil. A number of fundraisers have been launched to help repatriate his body back to his homeland.
Friend Brenda Ferraz wrote on Brazilian site Vakinha yesterday: “Unfortunately Jonas suffered a fatal accident this morning in Dublin 7 on Constitution Hill. Jonas was taken to the Mater Hospital but was already dead.
“He leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter. Jonas moved to Ireland in October last year in search of better opportunities and dreams. We need to bring him back, so we can say one last goodbye.”
A GoFundMe has also been launched in Ireland, with friends writing: “Jonas was alone in Ireland and had no resources or financial power, unfortunately neither did his family. Several stories to tell, but unfortunately the last one cannot be told through his own mouth.
“Jonas. [we] will miss his laughter and his unique energy. A friend always concerned about helping others. He will also be remembered for his love for his family, whom he contacted daily, especially his 11-year-old daughter.”
Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. A Garda spokeswoman said: “Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on Constitution Hill, Dublin 7, between 1.30am and 2.30am this morning, Thursday 11th July 2024, are asked to make this footage available to Gardai. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bridewell Garda Station on 01 666 8200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
