Martin Moodie leads the Travel Retail Euro 2024 Predictor Competition… along with 175 others

INTERNATIONAL. The whistle has blown and The Moodie Davitt Report Travel Retail Euro 2024 Tournament Predictor Competition is underway, write our football correspondents* Amos Wynmatch and Hedda Ball in Munich.

If you haven’t entered there is still time to not only participate but even to win, especially as not a single one of the 197 entrants picked the correct score in host Germany’s 5-1 (sledge)hammering of a not so bonny Scotland.

However, 176 of them did predict a German victory and no doubt the 87th minute own goal by Germany’s Antonio Rudiger (about the only way the Scots were going to score) ruined several otherwise perfect predictions.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie cracked a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc today after perusing the early leaderboard (below), only to discover his front-running status was shared with 175 others.

*The Moodie Davitt Report is the sole travel retail media title reporting on location from Germany. Amos Wynmatch and Hedda Ball are joined by experienced football correspondents Paul Damstring, Conor Flagg, Claire Fowell, Mark Closely and Mia Stryker.

Look out for their match reports over coming weeks.

Glasgow-based

The competition, open to anyone involved in the aviation and travel retail sector (mandatory) and free of charge to enter, is based on match predictions for the 24-team UEFA Euro 2024 competition.

You can still sign up and submit your initial predictions.

Predictions must be entered 15 minutes before kick off for any given match, but they can be changed freely up until that point. T

The Moodie Davitt Report and its partners Denizen Destination, Duty Free Global, Go Travel, Haribo, Gebr. Heinemann, Mast-Jägermeister and Qatar Duty Free are generously sponsoring the competition.

The contest is easy to enter and will see the following prize monies awarded to the winning entrants’ chosen charities (together with a write-up on each cause):

  • 1st – €1,000
  • 2nd – €500
  • 3rd – €300

Winners will also receive Denizen Destination bracelets of the country of their choice kindly donated by the high-quality brand house.

Real names must be used, no pseudonyms please.

RULES

The rules of the contest are simple. Qualified readers just need to register with the site and then provide a score prediction for every match. Reminders to post your score will be issued before each round for those who haven’t done so.

Entrants will receive 3 points for an exact score prediction and 1 point if they predict the result (win or draw) without getting the score correct.

Players with the most points at the end of the competition will take out the prizes.

If two or more players are tied on points, the differentiators will be as per the following:

  • Number of Correct Scores
  • Number of Correct Results
  • Competition Winning Team Prediction

So remember to also select a team you think will be champions at the end of the competition at the outset to ensure the most possible points.
