Massive jobs blow as Ozempic maker pulls out of €2bn Dublin factory plan

Dublin is set to lose out on up to 1,100 new jobs as Novo Nordisk, the maker of the diabetes and weight-loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, has abandoned plans to create a mega-factory in the city.

The pharmaceutical giant was also expected to create 2,000 jobs during the construction phase. Its plans to build a 147,000 sq m facility at Grange Castle business park in Clondalkin will no longer go ahead.

The Danish company confirmed the withdrawal from the Dublin project in a statement to The Sunday Times.

“Following an assessment, Novo Nordisk has made the decision to stop project activities in Grange Castle business park in Ireland. As a consequence, we will withdraw our planning application and not complete the acquisition of the land,”
