Maura Derrane ‘resets’ after serious incident as life throws ‘painful’ curveball

RTE star Maura Derrane said she is ‘resetting’ after an injury saw her be thrown a ‘painful’ life curveball over the past month.

The Today show presenter has had to take time to slow down after she fractured her wrist last month and has found herself in ‘complete pain’ as she admits struggling with everyday tasks.




The accident happened when she was filling in for Oliver Callan on RTÉ Radio 1 last month, but she has since bravely returned to the studio this week, covering for the comedian during his summer break.

Speaking on the show this week, Maura said: “You never really know what life throws at you, do you? I got in a taxi this morning. I can’t drive at the moment.

“I fractured my wrist nearly a month ago now. I have been forced into a little bit of a life reset, to be honest.”

Speaking on Radio 1 this morning, the RTÉ star said: “It is a complete pain. I didn’t realise how difficult it is to do so many little ridiculous things like tying your shoe laces, which you totally take for granted every single day.
