Maura gets stuck while exploring with her son and leaves fans ‘dying laughing’
RTE star Maura Derrane got stuck while exploring with her son and left her fans “dying laughing”.
The popular host is currently on a well deserved break from Today until September and has been enjoying some quality time with her family on her summer holidays.
Maura recently brought her ten-year-old son Cal back to her family home in Inis Mór in the Aran Islands.
The Galway beauty took to Instagram last night to share a hilarious video of herself and Cal having some fun in a field near her house.
The 53-year-old explained: “Showing Cal around some of the fields where I used to hang out with my sisters when I was a child on Inis Mór. Obvs it’s not today or yesterday!!”
In the clip, Maura, wearing pink leggings, a black coat and a navy hat, attempted to hop through the fence like she did when she was younger.

However, Maura couldn’t get through and shouted out: “Let’s see if I can still squish through. I’m stuck in the gate!”
Maura’s son Cal was in stitches laughing as he told her: “Enough chit chat.”
The Today host joked: “Oh no I’m too fat to get through it, I’ve only one good hand.”
Maura explained: “I used to slither through these gates like a snake. God help me, I had convinced myself I could still do it, and also wanted to prove to Cal that it was possible.
“How wrong I was!”
Maura’s friends and fans were all in hysterics laughing in the comment section.
Sharon said: “Dying laughing.”
Lyn wrote: “Absolutely brilliant. Fair play. He got some laugh out of that.”
Fidelma commented: “Loving Cal’s reaction. Enough chit chat -hilarious.”
Lucinda remarked: “This made my day @mauraderrane. Top class videography from Cal.”
MAUR KIDS
Maura became a mother at 44-years-old to her son, Cal, who she shares with her husband John Deasy and recently admitted that she “would have liked to have more kids.”
She said: “It’s now that I say I would like to have had more kids. At the time I didn’t, I just never felt ready then.
“But I can’t imagine not having Cal, I think long term as a parent it’s easier if you have more than one kid.”
Speaking about her close bond with Cal, she said: “He’s amazing and he’s the most important thing that’s ever happened to me in my life. He rules the roost and I’m his servant.
