Mavericks’ Luka Doncic reportedly received pain-killing injection before NBA Finals Game 2

The Dallas Mavericks are being extra cautious with Luka Doncic’s latest injury.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Malika Andrews, Doncic received a pain-killing injection before Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. The injection was used to numb the area of his thoracic contusion.

Doncic is reportedly expected to receive another injection before Wednesday’s Game 3. The team listed Doncic as probable for the matchup and removed the right knee sprain and left ankle soreness from his injury designation.

While speaking to reporters Tuesday, Doncic declined to go into detail about any pain he’s possibly feeling. He was listed as questionable ahead of Sunday’s matchup but ultimately played 42 minutes in Dallas’ 105-98 loss.

Doncic was seen wearing heavy wraps around his torso and right knee before Game 2.

“I feel good. Don’t want to give any more details,” Doncic said Tuesday. “But I feel good.”

The Mavericks star once again stood out in the NBA Finals, posting a 32-point triple-double at TD Garden in Boston. Dallas faces an 0-2 deficit as the series makes its way to American Airlines Center. Doncic is averaging 31 points a game in the series with 10.5 rebounds and six assists.
