McGregor 3Arena press conference for Chandler fight postponed

Monday’s Conor McGregor v Michael Chandler press conference in Dublin has been postponed, the UFC have announced.

The pair were due to come face-to-face at the 3Arena just weeks ahead of their scheduled bout at UFC 303, but in a brief statement in the early hours of Monday morning, the UFC stated that the event has been postponed. However, the fight promotion did say that they are planning on rescheduling the press conference for a new date.

“The #UFC303 press conference scheduled for Monday June 3rd in Dublin, Ireland at 3Arena has been postponed until further notice,” the UFC said. “We sincerely apologize to all the fans who were planning to attend. When we have further information on a new date and time, we will share it immediately.”

Monday’s event was due to be the first time that McGregor and Chandler came face-to-face since their UFC 303 main event was announced. The Dubliner previously faced off with Jose Aldo at a media event at the same venue nine years ago. Thousands of fans snapped up tickets after they were made available for free last Wednesday.

The June 29 bout will be McGregor’s first in almost three years since he suffered a horror leg break in his July 2021 trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. He faces American Chandler, who he coached against on The Ultimate Fighter last year.

McGregor has recorded just one win since November 2016, while former Bellator lightweight champion Chandler has won just two of his five bouts since joining the UFC some three and a half years ago. The bookies literally cannot split them and both men are currently priced at 10/11 to have their hand raised in victory.
