McIntosh MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver Facilitates Wireless Audio

McIntosh Laboratory, Inc., a renowned home audio company, has announced the launch of its MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver.

The N.Y.-based manufacturer explains that its latest product enables users to stream music directly from a smartphone to a home audio system via Bluetooth. McIntosh points out the MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver offers homeowners high levels of convenience, but the company asserts many Bluetooth-enabled sound systems lack the sound quality necessary to realistically represent a prized music collection so that is why it designed the MB25.

With the MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver, McIntosh states it designed the product for discerning audio enthusiasts to seamlessly integrate Bluetooth streaming capabilities into virtually any high-performance home audio system from any era, whether it includes McIntosh products or another manufacturer’s components.

McIntosh MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver Complements Modern Listening Habits

According to the company, the MB25 elevates the listening experience, transforming any audio system into a versatile home entertainment hub. With the ability to function as either a receiver or transmitter, the MB25 is compatible not only with Bluetooth streaming devices, but also physical media sources such as CDs and vinyl records to allow music fans to utilize their current AV systems, including a vintage analog stereo or new digitally based systems.

McIntosh explains the MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver was developed as a compact, standalone unit with a relatively small footprint. The MB25 requires no third-party apps for operation, ensuring a hassle-free experience, and the product incorporates Class 1 Bluetooth technology to provide high levels of connectivity with audio equipment lacking Bluetooth compatibility. McIntosh says the transceiver delivers a transmission range of up to 150 feet (45.7 meters) and its operation is enhanced by an external antenna.

The company notes the MB25 is the successor to its MB20, and the MB25 retains all the MB20 features while introducing new features for an improved user experience. Upgrades include:

  • An illuminated front glass panel that provides insights into audio signal rates and connection types.
  • Flexibility to select the desired input in transmit mode, giving users greater control over their audio experience.
  • Power Control so the MB25 can be easily turned on and off with the rest of a McIntosh audio system.

The MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver also provides these benefits:

  • Analog connectivity options, such as balanced and unbalanced stereo inputs and outputs.
  • The transceiver leverages Bluetooth 5.0 technology to support high-fidelity codecs such as Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) and Qualcomm aptX HD.
  • Equipped with a high-performance 32-bit DAC for receiver mode and a premium Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for transmitter mode, the MB25 maintains sound quality and signal integrity.
  • As a transceiver, the MB25 can function as either a Bluetooth Receiver or Transmitter at any given time—but not simultaneously—by simply setting the switch on the back panel to the proper setting for the desired usage.
  • In Receiver mode, users can stream audio from compatible Bluetooth devices to the MB25, and then use the variety of output connections to play the audio through their sound systems.
  • Alternatively, when the MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver is operating in transmitter mode, users can stream the music from physical media sources, such as CDs or vinyl records, to Bluetooth-enabled headphones or speakers.
  • The new product employs classic McIntosh design elements, including a sleek, custom aluminum chassis with a black glass front panel with illuminated logo.
  • MSRP is $600.
