Met Éireann issues weather warning for 18 counties until 4am tomorrow with flooding risk

The warning came into effect at 4am on Tuesday and will be valid until 4am on Wednesday, with rain becoming persistent and heavy at times.

Counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Tipperary and Waterford are under the warning until 4pm today.

While Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Leitrim and Roscommon will be under the alert until 4am on Wednesday.

“Potential impacts include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility,” Met Éireann said.

7 Day Weather Forecast: 8th – 14th July 2024

Rain in Munster and South Leinster will spread northwards this morning and extend into Ulster.

Today is forecast to be a washout for much of the country but parts of the west will avoid the worst of the deluges.

The rainfall is set to continue throughout the day and might become heavy in parts of Leinster and Ulster. Temperatures are expected to range between 13 and 18C.

Tonight, rain will remain over Ulster, north Connacht and the northern half of Leinster, with temperatures dropping to 8 to 11C.

Meanwhile, the south of the country will enjoy drier conditions as clear spells might develop in Munster.

Another very warm day on Wednesday with highest temperatures of 20C, before a clear and dry night of 13C.

Keeping in line with much of the week, Wednesday will have outbreaks of rain and drizzle through much of the day.

A mix of cloud, sunny spells and well scattered showers elsewhere, with the best of the sunshine to be enjoyed in Munster and Connacht.

Temperatures will continue to hit 20C, dropping to between 9 to 13C during a mostly wet night.

Thursday will be the outlier as we see temperatures drop below 20C for the first time but only ever so slightly to 19C.

It will be mostly cloudy at first with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly over the northern half of the country.

Good spells of sunshine will develop during the morning, with rain to follow, so make sure to bring an umbrella.

Friday will be dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells with just a few light showers about.

It’s good news for the start of the weekend with temperatures to soar once again to 20C.

Current indications suggest high pressure will continue to dominate into the following weekend.
