Met Eireann warn of temp drop & ‘persistent rain’ in blow for Taylor Swift fans
TEMPERATURES are set to remain high over the next few days but it’s bad news for anyone heading to summer gigs this weekend.
Met Eireann has shared that despite temperatures looking up, the weather over the next few days is looking “quite changeable”, with spells of “persistent rain” to hit in just days.
Forecaster Matthew Martin said: “The weather is going to be quite changeable for the rest of the week with low pressure becoming more dominant, bringing some rain and showers at times.”
When it comes to Wednesday, it’s set to be mostly dry with a few showers, but the heat is here to stay.
He said: “For this morning, it’s largely dry with any mist patches clearing quickly to leave a mix of cloud and sunny spells for a time today however it’s going to become overcast across the western half of the country this afternoon, showery rain developing later
“Outbreaks of rain will then push eastwards over Ireland during this evening and highest temperatures today generally ranging from 20C to 23C.
“For tonight, showery rain will clear from Leinster early on and it will be dry for a time with clear spells for many, however showery outbreaks of rain will spread from the Atlantic later to affect western and northwestern areas. Lowest temperatures between 10C and 13C.”
Thursday is set to see temperatures drop significantly as we’re due some cooling down following a few days of summer hitting.
The forecaster explained: “It will be a fresh and breezy day tomorrow, with showery outbreaks of rain spreading eastwards across the country.
“Rainfall amount will be very small on the east to the south with some decent dry spells at times.
“Highest temperatures for tomorrow, a cooler 14C to 17C.”
Friday is looking to be a wet one, so it would be advised to incorporate a raincoat into any concert outfit you’ve got planned.
Mr Martin said: “The outlook is for changeable weather for the weekend, mostly cloudy on Friday with scattered showers and then during the afternoon and evening, a spell of more persistent rain will develop in Atlantic coastal counties.
“Highest temperatures on Friday are 15C to 18C.”
Saturday is set to be just as rainy, with conditions staying much of the same, with the Met Eireann expert warning of a “cloudy and rather damp” start to the day with patchy rain and drizzle.
He continued: “Drier and brighter weather will develop across Connacht and Ulster during the afternoon and evening, but it looks set to stay very cloudy elsewhere with a few spots of rain and drizzle.
“Highest temperatures on Saturday of 15C to 19C.”
Sunday is looking better for most of the country with only a few showers, but mostly dry and warmer weather.

Mr Martin said: “Finally, looking out to Sunday, current indications are for it to be a mostly dry day, it’ll be mostly cloudy across the west and north and there could very well be a couple of showers.
“Best chance for any decent spells of sunshine on Sunday will be in the east and south. Highest temperatures on Sunday of 15C to 20C.”
