Met Eireann weather experts forecast ‘39C day’ after ‘hottest perturbation’ hits
Weather experts have forecast a significant incoming heat blast this week as highs of ’39C’ are observed in what has been called the ‘hottest perturbation’ of the year.
The sudden temperature spike was shared by a weather expert who said the map showed a height of over 30C for London, boosting hopes that hot weather will return.
The maps came with a stipulation, however, as they said it was ‘highly unlikely to verify’ the unprecedented spike.

In a post on social media on Monday, Surrey Palms and Exotics said: “This is by far the hottest perturbation that I have seen this year! It has 39C on one day, 2 days over 37C and about 6 consecutive days over 30C for London!
“This is not a forecast, but it is interesting to see nonetheless. Highly unlikely to verify.”
Meanwhile meteorology expert Matt Wolves weighed in as well, reporting that it looks to be ‘warming up’ from next week.
He said: “Ecm i think makes next week more interesting…it looks to warm up and a plume type scenario is feasible. Note the Low towards the West and any interaction could bring a thundery risk! This setup could bring high 20s if things go to plan.. Definitely one to watch!”
Here is the forecast for the next few days according to Met Eireann:
Today
Dull and cloudy today with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing later this morning. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in light to moderate southwest to west winds.
Tonight
Overcast tonight with more persistent rain and drizzle spreading from the west early on. Some mist and hill and coastal fog will form also. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds, fresh at times on coasts.
Tomorrow
Dull tomorrow morning with patchy rain and drizzle. The rain will clear eastwards through the morning with scattered showers and sunny spells following from the west. Becoming breezier with light to moderate southwesterly winds increasing moderate to fresh westerly during the morning. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.
