Leicester City have announced the signing of promising young midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea.

The 18-year-old England youth international has signed a four-year contract with the Foxes.

Golding, who has earned a reputation for his performances with Chelsea’s Under-18s and Under-21s, expressed his excitement about the move.

“I’m really looking forward to making leaps and bounds in my career here at Leicester and working hard to help the team as much as I can,” he said to Foxes Hub.

He added, “Obviously, the history of the club speaks for itself; there are great players here and I’m looking to soak up as much information as I can from the senior players, to learn from the staff and hopefully have a great season.”

The Kingston-born midfielder joined Chelsea at the age of 12 from AFC Wimbledon and made his senior debut in January 2024 during an FA Cup match against Preston.

Internationally, Golding has been capped by England at various youth levels, including Under-16s, Under-17s, and Under-18s. He captained the team at the UEFA Under-17s European Championships and played in the FIFA Under-17s World Cup in 2023.

Golding is comfortable in both attacking and central midfield roles.

He will join his new team-mates at Seagrave on Monday as Leicester City begin pre-season training.
