Michael Page releases first statement following UFC 303 loss to Ian Machado Garry
Michael Page is ready to rebuild following his first UFC loss.
“MVP” faced Ian Machado Garry in the main card opener of UFC 303 this past Saturday in Las Vegas, and lost a unanimous decision to the undefeated welterweight contender.
Several days after his third professional loss, Page gave his first reaction to the decision, the performance, and where he goes from the 2024 International Fight Week event.
“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal,” Page wrote on Instagram.
After surviving a tough first round that saw Garry nearly submit him via rear-naked choke, Page rallied to decisively win Round 2. The striking advantages were evident for Page, and it continued into the third round before Garry was able to take the back, where he stayed for the final two-plus minutes of the contest to secure the win.
The longtime Bellator star suffered his first loss in over two years — a highly controversial split decision to Logan Storley at Bellator 281. Prior to UFC 303, Page had a successful octagon debut with a decision win over Kevin Holland at UFC 299 in March.
