Michigan football gets commitment from running back in 2025 recruiting class

Michigan’s football team has landed a running back in the 2025 recruiting class.

Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw three-star prospect Jasper Parker announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Saturday night. The 6-foot, 189-pounder took an official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend and chose Michigan over 20 other reporter offers, including notable programs such as Alabama, USC, Oregon, Auburn, Florida State, Texas A&M and Penn State.

He is ranked as the No. 440 overall prospect and No. 32 running back in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. Parker becomes Michigan’s eighth verbal pledge this cycle and the third this month.

New Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford led the way in his recruitment, but receivers coach Ron Bellamy also played a role. Bellamy, a Louisiana native, has deep ties in the state and attended the same high school as Parker.

The Wolverines’ class entered Saturday ranked 40th in the country and No. 11 in the Big Ten, but their average rating of their commits is good for third in the conference.

Parker is the fifth pledge since Sherrone Moore took over as head coach in January and the second in the past two days. Michigan landed top-100 safety Kainoa Winston on Friday.
