Mother arrested for allegedly leaving kids in hot car while shopping

SAN ANTONIO – A woman has been arrested after allegedly leaving three children, including a one-month-old, in a locked turned-off vehicle for almost an hour.

The incident happened Friday just before 2 in the afternoon on the 16600 block of Hwy 281. The temperature was recorded to be in the high 90s at the time.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, a bystander called the police stating there were three children in a locked vehicle that was turned off. Three children were removed from the vehicle; a one-month-old, a two-year-old, and a four-year-old. It is estimated they were in the car for about 50 minutes.

The mother of the children, Angela Garza-Amador, was at the scene and claims she did not realize how long she was in the store. She was arrested on three counts of child endangerment.

The children were transported to the hospital, they are expected to recover.
